Kids

Children’s Services include programs, outreach, and resources designed for children from birth to age 11, as well as their parents or caregivers. The Library offers storytimes, books, and activities to help nurture a love of reading and learning. We also have children’s areas in every library where children can read, play, and learn.

Meet Dubi Monster

Dubi is a 6-year-old friendly monster who loves books and encourages his friends, young and old, to read. Serving as the mascot for Children’s Services, Dubi proves that reading can be a “monsteriffic adventure” through stories, jokes, song, and dance.

Dubi hosts live, sing-along puppet shows at all St. John the Baptist Parish Library branches. He can often be found performing at schools, daycare centers, and other community outreach events. Through his educational “Let’s Go Library” video series, Dubi has explored the farm, fire station, zoo, aquarium, the theatre, and more. He’s even been interviewed by Fox8 news! You can watch Dubi’s videos on the St. John the Baptist Parish Library YouTube channel. Dubi’s upcoming Live shows will be listed on the online calendar.

Arts & Crafts

St. John the Baptist Parish Library offers weekly arts and crafts programming to help children ages 0-11 learn and grow in a creative environment. Some craft programs are led by library staff at specific times, while others are extended activity tables that families can enjoy at their leisure. Find upcoming arts and crafts programs by visiting the online calendar.

Louisiana Young Readers’ Choice Awards

From January through May each year, St. John the Baptist Parish Library gives children the opportunity to cast votes for their favorite books in the Louisiana Young Readers’ Choice Award program.
