Teen Services
(12 – 18)


Teen Services provides dynamic programs, resources, and services to youth ages 12 to 18. Our libraries are dedicated to helping teens become their best selves, while also supporting them along the way. In addition to knowledgeable staff, we also have spaces in every branch where teens can read, work on schoolwork, and hang out.

Children's Services


Children’s Services includes children from birth to age 8, as well as their parents and caregivers. The Library offers story times, books, and activities to help nurture a love of reading and learning. We also have children’s areas in every Library where parents and children can read, play, and learn.

Outreach Services


St. John the Baptist Parish Library’s services extend beyond our physical locations. We are committed to providing all community members access to our staff, resources and services. Our goal is to provide services to some of the highest need and under-served populations in our community. Whether a person is in day care, homebound, in senior housing, living with disabilities, Outreach Services brings the Library experience and resources to the community.

Virtual Programs
(All Ages)


Our libraries offer programming for patrons of all ages. Story Time is held weekly at all branches for children ages 0 to 5. Story time encourages language and pre-reading skill development that helps children grow into a successful reader. Tween and teen programs are also offered weekly with an emphasis on educational resources offered throughout our library system. Adult programs vary in frequency from branch to branch. The programs range from everyday crafts to specialty holiday programs. Family programs are held monthly for families of different ages to bond and reconnect with one another.

Meeting & Study Rooms (18+)


St. John the Baptist Parish Library System has rooms available at all four branches. The primary purpose of these rooms is to provide appropriate facilities for activities and programs related to and in fulfillment of the library’s goals and objectives. These rooms are dedicated first to library sponsored programs. Study Rooms are limited to a one-hour usage, but you can remain in the room if no one is waiting. 



Rules and Regulations

  • The rooms are available free-of-charge, on a first come first served basis to governmental agencies, non-profit cultural, charitable, historical, fraternal and civic organizations and groups. 
  • The rooms shall not be used for shows to promote commercial purposes, social affairs, private parties, political meetings and money-making activities/affairs or for programs by commercial firms.
  • Rooms are booked a minimum of 1 week in advance and maximum 3 months in advance.
  • Guests are expected to configure tables and chairs and return them to their original configuration.
  • Only light refreshments may be served.
