Volunteer

Share Your Time & Talents

St. John the Baptist Parish Library has a range of low-tech to high-tech volunteer opportunities. Tasks may include shelf maintenance, setting up for library programs, or facilitating library programs.

Community members with experience in circuitry and electronics, sewing, crafting of all sorts, coding, woodworking, robotics, and other specialized fields can be great assets to library events and trainings held in the Leroy D. Williams Memorial Library's MakerSpace.

Through the Community Connections series, adults are also invited to host library programs to share knowledge related to their interests, hobbies, skills, or individual experiences.

Anyone working with children as part of a library program will be required to complete a background check.

Teen Volunteer

The St. John the Baptist Parish Library offers volunteer service hours to our local students in the 8th – 12th grade through a variety of in-person and virtual opportunities offered through our Library’s Programming Department. Examples of volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to creating library promo videos, submitting media reviews, and joining the Teen Advisory Board to share program ideas.

Opportunities may be completed by individuals or as group projects. If hours are used for school requirements, the volunteer's responsibility is to make sure the school accepts these hours as volunteer credits. Interested individuals should send completed Teen Volunteer applications to Rona Joseph ([email protected]) in the Programming Department. A parent’s signature is required for all volunteers under the age of 18.
